Method for Mapping (2016)
‘Method for Mapping’ is a performative installation that collects and displays data in relation to mental states. The work functions in two parts; an installation-object that is viewable within the gallery and a performative element involving myself collecting data while going about my normal routine. Mental states are be collected via a selective colour method. A device carried on my person allows me to select a colour at regular intervals throughout the duration of the exhibition. This information is sent in real time over the Internet to the installation-object installed at the gallery. The colour is then printed onto a continuous roll of paper via a hacked inkjet printer.
